World Golf Championships

August 2002
SITUATION
The PGA TOUR, headquartered in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, wanted to bring together a team of top-notch Seattle professionals to be involved in the 2002 Championship. I was brought into ensure that the event truly reflected Northwest hospitality because of the level of event experience I brought to the table and for my contacts from the PGA Championship and with targeted Seattle/Washington media for the event. There were three distinct audiences – the players, the attendees and the sponsors – and in surveys conducted after the event, all of the audiences felt this was one of the most creative and memorable events they ever attended and that a true Northwest flavor was experienced throughout.

“I have the greatest pleasure in recommending Linda Browne. Linda Browne Events was engaged as a consultant to the PGA TOUR during the planning and staging of the 2002 World Golf Championships - NEC Invitational, held at Sahalee Country Club. She was an integral part of our event team from start to finish. Not only did she far exceed our expectations in terms of her role as a consultant, she brought fresh and innovative ideas into the mix, and lifted our event to a higher standard than we could have imagined. Linda has tremendous creativity, style and elegance, and she also has an amazing ability to bring out the best in the people she works with. I truly believe anything she touches can turn to gold. Her attention to detail is awesome. And she is also so much fun to work with!” - Luci Hill, Assistant Tournament Director
RESULTS
Speakers presented at over 100 community events. Targeted public relations resulted in the PUGET SOUND BUSINESS JOURNAL republishing their annual golf guide with WGC-NECI on the cover; also a feature story in WASHINGTON CEO – both our target audience. Since NEC is an Asian company, most event attendees only come to events as a courtesy and leave in a very short period of time. At our events, guests stayed and closed down all of the parties! Hospitality clients and spectators said it was the most well run event they had ever attended in the Pacific Northwest.
