SITUATION

After the birth of my daughter, I was inspired to create an edutainment event where families could – under one roof – learn about products and services for children. While parents learned, children played in interactive booths and play areas.

Creator, Producer and Event Consultant

  • Created a family event from inception to the production of play areas, entertainment stages, major sponsor areas and exhibitors.
  • Started at Seattle Center Exhibition Center with 30,000 square feet and moved to the Kingdome with over 350,000 square feet.
  • Also worked with show production companies, television stations or event venues over a six-year period and produced the event as a consultant in 13 US cities.
  • First-year event in Seattle attracted 10,000 attendees; in 1994, both in Seattle and other cities, we were attracting over 80,000 guests at two- or three-day events.
  • Managed budgets over $1,000,000.00.
  • Sold event in 1995.

RESULTS

First show in US to have all interactive booths. Leader in creative event management of consumer shows. Consulted with Northwest Women’s Show and Northwest Flower and Garden Show when they were starting up in Seattle. Helped television stations understand the value of integrated marketing – newspapers, radio, TV and print. Also helped television stations create more market share for their children’s programming through their affiliation with positive family events, considered “value added.”  Made children and families happy. Informed them about products and services all about children. Created and lived a dream and successfully sold the event in 1995.
